As I have said elsewhere here, I originally was lured to WoW in the summer of 2007 by my brother and a group of real life friends (a total of about 8-9 friends) who had been playing for a some time. Some of them had been playing since close to lauch and raided Molten Core and the original Nax.
The idea was that we were all going to roll on the same server, play in the same guild, and endgame raid together. However, it always seems to come down to that only my brother and I are committed to running together. These friends will say they want to run, but when it comes down to it.. either they have something else to do or go join a different guild to progress. They ask when are we going to get 10 mans going but do nothing to help and lack the patience to stick with it while it is put together. On Thursdays we do heroic runs in the hope of turning that into a raid night soon. Of the 5 of us left that have known each other for around 20 years, usually it is just my brother and me.
Well I guess this weekend one of them ran off again. My brother called me a little ticked. I understand if how they want to play does not match up to how we want to play… but just quit pretending that they want to play with friends then!
It’s funny.. we have gotten much better commitment and consistency from the friends we have made through the game and never even met than any of our real life friends.. That’s sad to me.
Well at least my brother and I have always stuck to the commitment of we are going to play and raid together… Thanks bro!
